NIA Quezon, City – The payment of plant damages and other improvements affected by the construction of Balog-Balog Multipurpose Project Phase II - North and South Main Canal are continuously being processed.
The National Irrigation Administration BBMP II together with the local government units and other government agencies work hand in hand to focus their effort to the affected communities as the project verge of its full-blown implementation before this year end.
NIA Region 3 Manager and BBMP Project Manager Engr. Josephine B. Salazar, during one of the discussions with local officials, said that local executives claimed that much sought and long awaited construction of BBMP II is a green light for the unhindered development of Tarlac.
Tarlac 1st District Representative Charlie O. Cojuangco and 3rd District Representative Noel L. Villanueva gladly welcome the fresh development presented by Engr. Salazar. “We are happy that this project will bring an extreme relief for our constituents, especially our farmers and fisherfolks”, Congressman Cojuangco said.
Smooth relocation of the Project Affected Families (PAFs) prior to the construction of Balog-balog high dam is in progress. Under the resettlement program, the following construction activities for this year include; resettlement site development II, slope protection/riprapping, construction of core house, construction of community structures at San Jose area, and construction of water and electrical system at Mambog, Sula, San Jose, Tarlac.
Others include settlers’ assistance, real property acquisition and land distribution, repair and improvements/maintenance of project buildings and facilities, and equipment repair, utilization and maintenance.
“We are now in our fourth year of our project implementation. During the previous years, we focus primarily on initial preparatory and transition works as part of the pre-construction activities”, Engr. Salazar explained.
This year, the project has a total allocation of P8.4 billion which came from CY 2016 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and CY 2015 carry-over program. The total project cost is P13.37 billion which is locally funded. It started last January 2013 and set to be completed by December 2018.
