NIA, NOSFIA conduct 10th IA Congress

Negros Oriental – The annual celebration of promoting better partnership and dependable relationship between the National irrigation Administration (NIA) and Irrigator’s Association (IA) remains a dynamic platform for agreements, discussions, and consultations between the two key partners on irrigation development of the country.   

The 10th IA Congress participated by the Negros Oriental and Siquijor Federation of Irrigators Association (NOSFIA) commenced on November 17, 2016 at Dumaguete Cathedral Credit Cooperative (DCCCO), Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

Guests from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Agriculture, (DA) and Civil Service Commission (CSC) were invited to share inputs about their programs and services with strategies on how to effectively administer their organization.

Project availment from the Provincial Government was highlighted by President Rose Mary Caunca of League of Government Assisted Federation of Irrigator’s Association Negros Occidental (LeGAFIANO).

The event also recognized the performing IAs for 2015 of the Negros Oriental Satellite Office (NOSO). Sandulot-Siaton-Negros IA, Datag-Poblacion-Canaway IA, Bal-os Sandig FIA, Sta. Catalina Alangilan FIA, and Jugno FIA received the award for Most Viable Irrigators Association.

Datag-Poblacion-Canaway IA, Catigugan FIA, Sta. Catalina FIA, Jagna-Nagbalaye FIA, Fatima-Licolico FIA, Bal-os Sandig FIA, Jugno FIA, and Luca San Isidro FIA were all recognized as IAs with full payment of 2015 CIS Amortization.

IAs who attained 30% Equity generation for CY 2015 projects were Datag-Poblacion-Canaway IA and Jugno FIA.

The Irrigator’s Associations pledged to continue their utmost efforts to support not only the viability of the agency as a whole but most importantly to contribute for the attainment of a rice self-sufficient nation.  

IAs and NIA remain vital partners in the provinces of Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
