PBBM VISITS P100-MILLION RM TAN SOLAR PROJECT IN ORMOC CITY

NIA Region VIII — President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen conducted an ocular inspection and site visit at the RM Tan Solar Pump Irrigation Project (SPIP) in Ormoc City, Leyte on August 18, 2025.

With a total project cost of P100 million, the RM Tan SPIP will provide irrigation water to 100 hectares of farmland, ensuring sufficient supply for two cropping seasons. This project will benefit 92 farmers and their families. With the completion of the project, local farmers would no longer have to rely on diesel-powered motor pumps for irrigation. Aside from being cost-efficient, solar projects are environmentally friendly, reinforcing NIA’s dedication in renewable energy development.

The construction of SPIPs across the country is part of NIA Administrator Guillen’s 7-Point Strategic Policy Agenda, particularly in Climate-Smart Irrigation Systems.

NIA Biliran-Leyte del Norte-Leyte del Sur IMO Manager Engr. Conrado M. Samson, NIA Central Office and regional employees, RM Tan Irrigators Association, Inc. officers, and farmer-beneficiaries were present in the event.
