NIA CHIEF GUILLEN CARRIES PBBM’S MESSAGE TO MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL COMMUNITIES

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental – The opportunity to serve the Filipino people remains the most meaningful gift in the celebration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s birthday, as government agencies bring vital programs and services closer to communities through the nationwide Handog ng Pangulo 2026 on September 14, 2026.

The Misamis Occidental activity is spearheaded by Governor Henry S. Oaminal, 2nd District Representative Sancho Fernando F. Oaminal, 1st District Representative Jason Paredes Almonte, and Asenso Pinoy Party-list Representative Atty. Henry “Indy” Fuentes Oaminal Jr., alongside local government officials and other stakeholders.

In his message, Governor Henry S. Oaminal, as delivered by Board Member and OIC-Governor Hon. Alejandro Guantero, highlighted the importance of working hand in hand to bring government services closer to the people, in line with the ASENSO vision of the Province of Misamis Occidental and the Bagong Pilipinas agenda of a government that goes where the people are.

“Working hand in hand, we bring government services closer to our people. This is a clear presentation of the Bagong Pilipinas vision—the government must go where the people are,” Guantero said.

In his message, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen, who represented President Marcos during the activity, emphasized that the celebration is anchored on the government’s commitment to serving the Filipino people.

“Sapagkat para sa Pangulo, ang pinakamahalagang handog sa araw na ito ay ang pagkakataong makapaglingkod sa sambayanang Pilipino,” Administrator Guillen said, conveying President Marcos’ message to the communities of Misamis Occidental.

Engr. Guillen also encouraged beneficiaries and participants to take full advantage of the government programs, services, and assistance made available through the activity, emphasizing the Filipino spirit of unity and resilience in facing challenges.

“Tayo pong mga Pilipino ay laging handang magsama-sama at umahon. Kapag may pagsubok, bumabangon. Kapag may problema, nagtutulungan,” he said.

Administrator Guillen leads the NIA delegation during the activity, where NIA Region X conducts the ceremonial turnover of the Baliangao Solar-Powered Irrigation Project (SPIP) in Barangay Misom, Baliangao, Misamis Occidental.

Through its respective Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs), NIA Region X also facilitates the ceremonial turnover of selected SPIPs in other provinces of Northern Mindanao, namely the Amoros-Molugan SPIP in Misamis Oriental, Kapatagan SPIP in Lanao del Norte, and Sto. Niño SPIP under the Pulangui River Irrigation System in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

As part of the Misamis Occidental service fair, 200 bags of 10-kilogram rice were also distributed to beneficiaries at ₱29.00 per kilogram, providing additional assistance to participating communities and families.

NIA likewise established an information booth during the activity, providing Irrigators’ Associations, farmers, stakeholders, and other participants with information on the Agency’s programs, projects, services, and accomplishments.

Through its participation in Handog ng Pangulo 2026, NIA Region X underscores its commitment to strengthening irrigation services and supporting the productivity and welfare of Filipino farmers while contributing to the national government’s efforts to bring essential services closer to communities.
