Duties & Responsibilities: 
  1. Supervise surface and sub-surface geological activities in order to maintain the standard and objectives of engineering geological exploration works, materials sampling, and testing;
  2. Supervise and review the Terms of Reference for geological and geotechnical exploration activities, the geological aspect of Feasibility Study Reports and Engineering Geological and Geohazard Assessment Reports (EGGAR) prepared by consultants and subordinates;
  3. Supervise the inspection and checking of drilling activities and other related works undertaken by contract for adherence to plans, specifications, and specific provisions embodied within the contract;
  4. Conduct reconnaissance/semi-detailed engineering geologic mapping (emphasis on geologic structures such as faults, joints, beddings, and lithologic contracts) at the damsite and reservoir area and prepare a comprehensive report to be incorporated with the subsurface geologic investigation in the Feasibility Study report;
  5. Location of source and suitability of construction materials through evaluation of laboratory tests, and conduct of geologic logging;
  6. Determine soil-bedrock and groundwater and geologic structures’ profile and the variation of the materials and structures underground using geophysical methods and tender recommendations on excavation methodology;
  7. Ensure that the database of the Interim Geology Section is intact and up to date;
  8. Provide or delegate staff for technical assistance to field or project offices regarding geological and/or geotechnical matters and concerns encountered during the construction phase of projects; and
  9. Perform other related functions.
