Duties & Responsibilities:
- Undertake technology generation and demonstration research on water, soil and plant management focusing on the thrust for improving sustainability, efficiency and productivity in the use of such resources under irrigated agriculture;Review all architectural designs and plans submitted by project and field offices;
- Conduct reconnaissance and walkthrough surveys in service areas including outlying upstream areas to explore potential augmentative surface and re-use water streams for development to increase irrigation performance and services;
- Develop water allocation and application schemes that would result in reduced water input, increased crop yield, reduced production cost, soil biota resurgence, rejuvenated soil condition and simpler water management;
- Prepare statistical and narrative profiles of conventional and ingenious farming systems under rainfed and irrigated ecosystems as references in developing research methodologies and operations practices;
- Organize Wednesday and special seminars to serve as forums for the critiquing and heralding research findings and recent technologies on water management, and irrigation and drainage operations and management;
- Perform other related functions.
