10 AGENCIES UNITE FOR TECH ADVANCEMENT, SMART SOLUTIONS IN IRRIGATION

NIA Central Office – Ten key government agencies convened on November 21, 2025 at the NIA Matikas Multipurpose Hall to strengthen collaboration, accelerate technological innovation, and promote smarter, more efficient, and more future-ready governance.

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA), under the leadership of Administrator Engr. Eddie G. Guillen, partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd), led by Secretary Sonny Angara, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Transportation (DOTr), Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Office of the Civil Defense (OCD), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Project NOAH (Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazard), managed by the University of the Philippines (UP). The collaboration aims to strengthen sharing knowledge, integrate modern systems, and adopt data-driven approaches in public service.

The session featured cutting-edge platforms such as Tomorrow.io, NIA’s smart weather forecasting technology, and Agri.io. These demonstrated how digital tools and artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance operations not only in irrigation and agriculture, but also in disaster preparedness, infrastructure development, education, emergency response, and other crucial government functions. The presentations highlighted how digital transformation is strengthening inter-agency capability and improving service delivery.

Participants engaged in insightful presentations and open discussions focused on harmonizing efforts and optimizing inter-agency coordination. The event also featured a guided walkthrough of the NIA Command Center and the Dam Information Management System, showcasing the Agency’s commitment to operational efficiency and innovation.

Through this initiative, government agencies reaffirmed their unified action towards smarter, more resilient, and more data-driven Philippines.
